01
The challenge
Small businesses often track sales and stock in notebooks or spreadsheets, which makes it hard to know what is selling, what is running out, and how the day went.
02
My role
Full-stack developer. Advance POS is a business system for recording sales, managing inventory and reviewing reports, with an admin interface for the people who run the shop.
03
The approach
- 01Designed the database first — products, stock movements, sales and users — so reports come from reliable data rather than manual totals.
- 02Kept the sales screen fast and simple for cashiers, and moved configuration into a separate admin area.

Architecture overview
A simplified view of how the system is organised. Internal infrastructure details are intentionally left out.
- SalesPoint-of-sale screen for recording transactions
- InventoryProducts and stock levels updated by sales and purchases
- ReportingSales and stock reports built from transactional data
- AdminManagement of products, users and settings
05
Key features
Sales
Record sales transactions at the counter.
Inventory
Track products and stock levels.
Reporting
Review sales and stock reports.
Admin system
Manage products, users and configuration.
06
Challenges
- Stock accuracy
- Every sale must update inventory in the same transaction, or the numbers drift.
07
The result
A working business system covering sales, inventory, reporting and administration.
No metrics are published here unless they have been verified.

What I learned
“Business software is mostly about data integrity. If the schema is right and every change happens inside a transaction, the reports almost write themselves.”
